Activity Descriptions

Hill Country Guided Hike
Start your day right with a guided hike through the beautiful Balcones Canyonlands Preserve. Wear comfortable, supportive shoes and bring water. Appropriate for all fitness levels. (Departs from Beck Welcome Center promptly at 8 am) Please sign up for morning hikes at the Beck Welcome Center OR the Spa Front Desk by 5pm the day before you wish to hike.

Gentle Yoga with Nora Jeanne Welsh
A class for all levels introducing breathing practices for greater mental focus and techniques for increasing strength and flexibility. Increase ease and stability in both your body and mind. This morning class will take a gentler approach to help you loosen up stiff muscles and prepare mentally and physically for whatever your day at The Crossings will bring. (Movement Room)

Hatha Yoga for All Levels with Anna Easterling
An introductory class for all levels. Classical yoga postures linked with the breath creating a moving meditative practice designed to increase flexibility and strength. (Movement Room)

Gentle Hatha Yoga with Susan Anderson
Enhance your stamina, deepen your flexibility, and soothe your soul in this series of dynamic postures. The body flows with the breath as focus and clarity wash over the mind. This class offers a powerful, spirited practice that is appropriate for all levels. (Movement Room)

Yoga for a Healthy Spine with Nora Jeanne Welsh
This beginning hatha yoga class will deepen awareness of the body through the use of your breath and muscles to develop both strength and flexibility. This class will get your heart pumping, the blood flowing and help you to feel both invigorated and relaxed for the remainder of the day.

Body Meditation with Nora Jeanne Welsh
Guided meditation using colors to playfully identify energy and use it to cleanse the body and aura. This meditation acknowledges you as the creator of your experience and teaches how to set the intention of what you choose to experience and envision for yourself.

Yoga for Strengthening with Nora Jeanne Welsh
We use the yogic principles of breath and movement with weight bearing postures. We will also use small hand weights for upper body work. This class is designed for strengthening the arms, legs and core muscles. It is good for those with slight bone loss. (Movement Room)

Dao-Yin with Janus Lee
Dao-Yin is an ancient self-healing practice meaning "to lead with the breath." It is taught to patients in Chinese hospitals for restorative purposes. Qi (energy) flow is promoted using deep, meditative stretches, both singularly and paired with others. (Movement Room)

Nia Technique with Elissa Shapiro or Julie Wylie
A dynamic fitness and healing system that uses practical and diverse movements, free expression, and the senses to experientially create wellness in the body, mind, and spirit. For anyone who loves to move and be moved! No experience necessary! (Movement Room)

This class was designed to give you a beginner’s view into the wisdom and depth of Numerology. Your name is full of information ready to be discovered. Let it reveal your path in life and your gifts to share. (Movement Room)

Healing with Reiki with Georgy Pancharian
This is an introductory class designed for you to experience Reiki healing energy. We will discuss what Reiki is and talk about the history & lineage of Reiki. You will receive an attunement which will align you with the Reiki healing energy.  You will then pair up with a partner & give and receive a Reiki Treatment. Attend and experience the grace that is Reiki! (Movement Room)

Shamanic Journey Meditation with Tamie Stewart
Experience the ancient shamanic technique of engaged meditation to access energies and information for healing and problem solving. Using drums and guided meditation, you will be led on your own journey to discovery. 

How to Be Present in Your Body with Tamie Stewart
In this class you will learn tools and techniques for living fully within your body.  Through breath, sound, movement and attention you will learn to communicate with your body's great wisdom.  Become one with your greatest resource--your body.

Aquatic Watsu Demonstration with Kandis Hill
Come see and experience our signature Watsu and learn how aquatic massage can nurture your mind, body and spirit using gentle acupressure, stretching, and flowing movements. The demonstration will be located in our beautifully-designed outdoor heated pool. You are welcome to bring your bathing suit to get in the pool.

Introduction to Chakras with Kandis Hill
Chakras are the sacred energetic gateways to healing & wholeness. Learn their correlation to the physical body, colors, essential oils, crystals & gems. When our chakras are out of alignment due to stress, inability to express emotions or exposure to toxicity, our energetic system can close down.  Learn tools for opening and harmonizing your chakras and experience a guided visualization to cleanse your chakra system. Introduction to Ayurvedic with Mark Nasralla
“Ayurveda” means the science of life.  According to ancient Indian traditions, the key to health lies in understanding your mind and body type or “dosha” (Vata, Pitta, Kapha). Learn tips for your dosha in context of daily and season routines and how you can improve your health and well-being. (Movement Room)

A Fresh Look at Getting Organized with Jeffery Mallon
Gain a clear understanding of why previous attempts to "Get Organized" have been unsuccessful and receive an introduction to a Seven Step Process to an Organized System that will help you making positive changes going forward. Learn tips to help you contend with clutter, transform an overwhelming situation into a manageable challenge, and change your current habits into supportive patterns. (Café)

Dance Fusion! with Tina Guershon
An introductory class specifically designed for beginners. Dance movements include basic steps of Salsa, Brazilian Samba, Egyptian and Caribbean folklore. Great workout for any age! You’ll learn basic routines you can take with you anywhere. If you love music, movement and rhythm, you’ll love this class!

Zen Meditation with David Stopher
The practice of meditation in the Zen tradition of Buddhism is called zazen or sitting meditation. This class will place emphasis on form and breathing in order to do "not-doing" to find stillness and clarity which gives rise to genuine insight. Please wear loose, comfortable clothing. (Sanctuary)

Aqua Boogie: Water Aerobics with Pauline Hargis
An invigorating and energetic combination of non-complex choreography that all can follow. You will get a total workout, including cardiovascular, resistance, core balance, and flexibility. (Pool)
