Thai massage originated in India more than 2,000 years ago. It is believed to have been developed by Jivaka Kumar Bhaccha, physician to Buddha. Thai massage is influenced by both Aryuveda and Chinese medicine, a result of the tradition's gradual expansion from India into Thailand.
During a Thai massage, the therapist gently stretches and manipulates your body into a series of yoga-like positions. It is generally performed on a mat on the floor. You will wear loose-fitting clothing for the massage. Thai massage is more rigorous than most other types of massage and will leave you feeling both relaxed and energized.
"How grateful I am to be in the energy stream of Thai massage. In my heart it is more than just another modality, it is a way of life. The Thai way brings an attitude of mindfulness and attention to detail to every aspect of life. There is a grace and beauty to the art and flow of Thai massage that exists only in that realm. The practitioner and the recipient dance together during a Thai session in a flow of graceful poses that are intelligently choreographed to elicit a turn on the spiral of healing. The benefits of Thai massage are profound and eternally transforming. It is a blessing to be part of the heart-centered, esoteric Thai massage community, raising the consciousness of humanity one movement at a time."
