The Expedition School and The Crossings invite you on a seven-day fishing expedition in Alaska. Your adventure includes a ride on the Yukon Route Railroad, discovering the remote wilderness of the Yukon Territory, lodging in a lakeside cabin, historic sites, and four days of freshwater fishing. Don't miss out on this action-packed opportunity! This trip is ideal for adults over the age of 16, and families are welcome. (Children over 11 years of age should accompanied by legal guardian or adult.) Level of difficulty is beginner to intermediate.
Day One
Your adventure begins in Skagway, Alaska—the gateway to the Klondike Gold rush of 1898. After a well deserved halibut or salmon supper and a good night's sleep in a locally owned and operated bed and breakfast, you will board the White Pass and Yukon Route Railroad and head toward the Canadian border.
Boarding a floatplane in Whitehorse, the capital of the Yukon, you will fly into the Yukon Territory's remote wilderness and land at your rustic cabin on the lake. The cabin is equipped with a boat and an outboard motor, propane stove, refrigerator, and comfy beds with pillows and down comforters.
Days Two through Five
You will spend the next four days fishing for several species of freshwater fish and then cooking your catch for supper! Throughout your stay, you will learn the local flora and fauna, wilderness skills and ethics, natural history—and, of course, you'll pick up some fishing tips along the way!
Day Six
All too soon, the float plane will pick you up lakeside and fly you back to Whitehorse for a delicious meal at a local restaurant before your drive back to Skagway. You'll spend your last night unwinding at the bed and breakfast (although we do highly recommend that you pay a visit to the historic Red Onion Saloon before hanging up your hat for the night!).
